Panteras Official Web Site
2011 Goals
- The page is 100% hand coded, that's how we can make sure each page has it's own title, and verified code. The JavaScript who writes automatically is also hand coded.
- First of all we want to have our audience to be as informed as they want by offering them as many resources we can give.
- Second we want the page to have many dynamic content. This is because it makes an interactive feeling for almost everyone who visits it. And with this method, we create a link between the reader and the web site, and helps people to get more interested in the project.
- We also want the page to be easily modified, so we created a Dreamweaver Template System, in which we can easily modify only one template and every page is changed to the new theme.
- The less use of Flash as we can, this is because for some devices and web browsers, Flash can't de showed so, if we want anybody to be well informed, we can't use something that doesn't Work in some devices.
- Show the importance or our platinum and founder Sponsors, by showing them to the community in every page. Is to remember that our sponsors are one of the most important parts of the team, because they give us the possibility of success by giving not only money, but also people with experience as mentors.
- To have a dynamic content with advanced codes which take an XML and transform it into a pretty dynamic HTML. With this we can easily change a file without transforming the whole HTML, that is more complicated. Go to Our XML's Page.
- Have a mobile site so the mobile browsers can read the page without all the implements that make difficult to read for a mobile browser. But also, we want to let choose our readers if they want to use the mobile version.
- We want each page to be well traduced, so our traductions team writes each page, so we can secure a well traduced document.
Set by the 2011 Communication direction.
Building Process
Many people want to know about the building process of the Pantera's web site, so, here it is:
- The first thing we do is check the errors of the past web sites.
- With the errors in mind, we start the template of the new one.
For this process, we use Adobe Dreamweaver® for the XHTML coding and Adobe Photoshop® for the image the document will have. - Now is the time to set the Menus, for this, we make the general list of all the topics the web site must have.
- Now, we need to establish the features of the new site, such as the navigation bars, the image effects and the special effects scripts.
- Our web site is really cool but there is no special colors, so we built a color change widget and special images for each color.
- Now, the background was black, but we want it to be special, so, with the width of the page, we design the background with the help of Adobe Photoshop® and Adobe Illustrator®.
- Wow, the Web site has a good design and works great, but we only have the index so... time to build all the other pages; actually this takes a lot of time.
- Now is time for the smaller changes, such as parts of the interface and images.
- Finally, the migrating process is made on the server via FTP.
- Always have present the W3C Resources to have a clean code.
- Think on the other people, and accept opinions.
- Explain well the why of some features like, in this case, the use of XML.
Special web site features
Automatic Language Selector
The Panteras web site has an automatic JavaScript code that chooses the language you selected the last time you visited a Panteras page and changed the idiom. This is made by placing a 30 day cookie on your system each time you change the language to a new one.
Loading Icon display
Panteras web site lets you know when the page has finished loading, so you can watch all the page without a problem.
Printing features
Panteras web site, as part of the Panteras Go Green program, wants to reduce the amount of paper and ink wasted on an impression of a web page. Because of this, when you want to print a Panteras page, the web site automatically hides all the headers, backgrounds, footers and only shows the content of the page. This is made with a special CSS code for the print template.

This web page was made with Adobe Flash with the help of the programmer of the school. It also used Joomla with Wordpress as the content managment system. Webmaster: Santiago Betancourt |
Of course we always want to thank all of our past webmasters for the work they've done not just for the team, but also for all the FIRST community; and we hope the upcoming pages will be better and with the help of the feedback that our readers can give us, we can be the best web site FIRST has ever had."
